Great Motivator
Fred Wilson commented on something one of his portfolio company’s founders wrote about. The focus was a quote from the movie Better Off Dead:
“Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way … turn.”
Hopefully no one follows that quote as advice too literally. I’m assuming Jeff Atwood didn’t mean it too literally, or hope not anyway.
If obstacles come, surely find an alternative; A better alternative forced to be discovered because of a challenge are my favourite. :)
I like the under-control anxiety Jeff voices when he’s still concerned he’s not moving fast enough; I definitely feel that way too, but when I reflect my plans that have constantly evolved are further ahead - and then I can smile and feel good, for a bit, before I dive back in. That feeling is a great motivator. “Fighting for a salary” type thing.
I would have commented on his blog but he doesn’t use Disqus. :O :P … which reminds me I need to add commenting capabilities.
P.S. I have to thank Scott Belsky personally sometime when I have a chance. I just finished reading his Making Ideas Happen book, and that along with some other little organizational things I learned or came up with myself has given me a system for organization that works really awesomely for me. Is awesomely a word? It should be..
